This is one of those issues that cannot really be resolved to everyone's
satisfaction, though. Because one person's "reasonable" or "handled well" is
another person's "flipping nightmare" or "offense against typography
standards."

The fact is that these fonts do exist, so the almost religious arguments
about whether they should can likely be laid aside. There are interesting
technical challenges and there are many cases if one looks at the whole of
Unicode where the solutions are not as easy as are being claimed.
