In Word 2000, Save as Encoded Text (*.txt) produces a dialog box with a
long list to choose from, including:

    Unicode
    Unicode (Big-Endian)
    Unicode (UTF-7)
    Unicode (UTF-8)

At least in Word 2000, there is not an option to include or exclude a BOM.
