A professor of Malayalam sent me
a link to a detailed transliteration document for Malayalam.
    Please take a look at:
    http://transliteration.eki.ee/pdf/Malayalam.pdf

Note that Malayalam digit zero, introduced
around or after 1850, is in accord with
all other Indian languages' zero (o) including
the Tamil script which is much closer.
    http://www.omniglot.com/language/numerals2.htm

The representative glyph for Zero (o)
used extensively by native Malayalam speakers
can be placed in the Malayalam code chart
    http://www.unicode.org/charts

If any documents are needed to change the
codechart Malayalam digit zero glyph, we can
    supply them.
