Abstract

Target Audience: Manager, Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, Other: General Interest

Level of Session: Intermediate

Microsoft's Win32 operating system was the world's first to incorporate Unicode as one of its supported character sets. Integrated completely into Windows NT and half-heartedly into Windows 95, Unicode has had a profound influence on these operating systems and on programs designed to run there. In this workshop, we will examine how Unicode has affected Windows NT and Windows 95 by looking at the Win32 character set and programming models (including Version 5 features) from a technical point of view and how you can use Unicode to your best advantage in your program design and implementation.
