Perhaps you're just pressing the "?" key too often??????????????!!!!!!!!!!

Alternatively, it might be a good idea to see if the font you're using
supports these characters: if the font doesn't contain the glyphs, it
can't display them. Are you displaying in Unicode, or are you converting
to some codepage first? If so, be careful that the target encoding
contains the characters you want to display, or they'll be converted to
some fallback value, often a "?".
