Compound combining marks

I notice that Unicode 5.0 has several compound combining marks (macron
plus acute, etc.) at U+1DC4..1DC9. I'm curious about the reason for
adding these? In other words, what advantage do they have over simply
using two of the existing combining marks, which will stack properly if
an app follows the behavior specified in TUS?

    Thanks - David
