"Surviving e-mail" is not a yes-or-no matter; various mail systems and
subsystems along the way have various degrees of success in dealing with
UTF-8 or even non-ASCII content. Perhaps strangely, Web-based archives
often seem to have the most problems. Check the U+02C6 at the end of
the last line of my signature to see how your system does.
