Unicode Translation Policy

The Consortium permits individuals or organizations to make translations of the documents or web pages included in the list below and to post those translations on other sites, under the conditions established by this policy. For permission to translate any other content from the Unicode website, please contact the Unicode Consortium.

The permission under this policy applies to the following documents: Unicode Technical Reports, Unicode Technical Notes, and the FAQ pages

The Unicode Consortium retains copyright on all original documents and content from the Unicode website. A translator or hosting site may claim copyright to the translations only.

Translated documents or pages must follow these guidelines:

  • Provide a clear link to the original page on this website.
  • Contain information which explains that the content is a translation whose original authoritative version is located on the Unicode website.
  • Contain a disclaimer stating that in case of unclear interpretation, the authoritative source is the original English language document or page hosted on the Unicode website.

The Consortium's specifications and other web pages are often updated. Translators of such documents or pages should periodically monitor the Unicode website pages that they have translated and update their translations as appropriate to assure their current accuracy.
