Abstract

A Multilingual Glossary Web Based System

Description

A description of the challenges to publish a multilingual glossary included process issues: compiling the glossary terms, determining the word attributes and coordinating the approval process. On the technical side, implementing a Unicode Oracle DB in the back end and a Web based solution in the front end.

Conclusion:

The Unicode solution all the way, and using off the shelf tools to overcome technical obstacles allowed for a workable solution.

Summary:

A common glossary system was publihed on the Web to provide a single repository of information for translators of Adobe products. The process and technical challenges were overcome using off the shelf tools and programmer ingenuity.
